Progress Edu. is built specifically to address the academic management, grade reporting, and administrative needs of Caribbean primary and secondary schools. The platform is organized into module-based Tools designed for teachers, administrators, parents, and students.

User Roles ​

Progress Edu. adapts to the specific needs of different members of the school community:

1. Staff and Teachers ​

Staff members use Progress Edu. to streamline daily school administration. Depending on their assigned roles (such as Class Teacher, Head of Department, Dean, or Supervisor), they can:

  • Input student marks with extended comment limits, visual student avatars, and track class averages with terms sorted newest-first.
  • Take attendance effortlessly with automatic AM/PM slot detection, rapid click-to-change status cycling, a mobile-responsive card layout, and an explicit submit roll lifecycle.
  • Categorize excuses, track late arrival reasons, and filter rosters on the fly using interactive live tally chips.
  • Monitor school-wide attendance compliance, audit missing rolls, reconcile morning/afternoon absences during grace periods, centrally dispatch guardian absence emails, and audit mid-day truancy via Attendance Manager.
  • Upload and manage student portrait photos with interactive pan/zoom lightbox viewers across student records, roll calls, and grading grids.
  • Write report reviews, edit student outcomes, manage Year 3 End-of-Term upper-school subject allocations, and release reports to families (which automatically triggers email notifications to guardians).
  • Manage school terms, school calendar events, session data, and student class rollovers.
  • Search past students, view dedicated attendance and absence histories, manage active/inactive staff account statuses, and update student profiles with reverse-chronological academic records.
  • Manage staff tool permissions with a unified staff selector supporting multi-field search and bulk selection across all active personnel.
  • Analyze student rankings, identify prize-giving award recipients, and export academic broadsheets via the Export Center.
  • Generate and download custom student rosters in CSV format.

2. Parents and Guardians ​

Guardians receive direct insight into their student's progress:

  • Instant Alerts: Receive automated email notifications when academic results are released.
  • Absence Notifications: Receive timely, branded email notifications when a student is marked absent from morning or afternoon roll call, with direct school office contact details and phone/email reply capabilities.
  • Unreleased Session Isolation: In-progress evaluations remain confidential while undergoing review; only finalized and officially released report cards appear in the Report Book.
  • Student Profile Photos: View your student's official portrait photo directly on their Report Book with full-screen zoom support.
  • Term-by-term updates: Access report cards with averages, lates, absents, conduct, and deportment scores, with terms listed newest-to-oldest.
  • Grades Breakdown: Expand subjects to see individual assignments and assessments.
  • Subject Allocation: View assigned upper-school (Years 4 & 5) subject choices on Year 3 End-of-Term report cards.
  • Academic Progress History: View interactive progress charts showing performance trends over multiple terms and sessions.
  • School Calendar & Events: View upcoming school events, exam dates, term schedules, and holidays via the Home Screen Upcoming Events widget.
  • Digital Sign-off: Sign progress report cards digitally by simply viewing them.
  • PDF Export: Print or save official PDF versions of report cards.

3. Students ​

Students can log in to check their academic performance directly:

  • View your official portrait photo directly on your Report Book with full-screen zoom support.
  • Check current term averages, conduct scores, and attendance metrics with sessions organized newest-first.
  • Access officially released academic results, with in-progress term evaluations kept protected until finalized.
  • Track academic trends over time using interactive history charts.
  • Review detailed assessment marks and teacher comments for each subject.
  • View allocated upper-school (Years 4 & 5) subjects on Year 3 End-of-Term report cards.
  • Keep track of upcoming school events, activities, exams, and holidays via the Home Screen Upcoming Events widget.

📊 Academic and Grading Tools ​

  • Mark Book: The primary portal for teachers to create assessments, enter individual grades with extended comment character limits, view student avatar thumbnails with zoomable lightboxes, mark absences/disqualifications, compare class averages with cohort benchmarks, and calculate averages. Subclasses and academic terms are organized newest-first.
  • Report Book: The student and parent view featuring a dual-tabbed layout (Details and History) to review term reports, view student portrait photos in a zoomable lightbox, explore interactive academic progress history trends, check Year 3 End-of-Term subject allocations, read comments, and download PDF reports. Strictly isolates unreleased sessions so only finalized report cards and historical tallies are visible, with terms sorted newest-to-oldest.
  • Session Review: Form-level review dashboard for Deans and class supervisors to refine final overall metrics, view student avatars, edit subject-specific marks and teacher comments directly, perform Year 3 End-of-Term subject allocation for upper-school subjects, and release report cards. Includes reverse-chronological session selection and release status indicators.
  • Subject Review: Analytical dashboards for Heads of Department to audit subject performance, compare class averages against cohort benchmarks, analyze class grades/distribution curves, and drill down into individual outcomes.
  • Export Center: Comprehensive academic ranking, awards, and broadsheet export tool. Enables deans, supervisors, and administrators to evaluate student performance across multiple dimensions:
    • Top Performers: Class-level student rankings based on overall session average using standard competition ranking (1224) with joint rank indicators, class benchmarks, and configurable limits (Top 3, 5, 10, 20, or All).
    • Prize Giving: Form-wide academic excellence reports identifying Year Group Overall Champions (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each Form) and Subject Excellence Champions (highest mark in each subject across the year group with customizable minimum qualifying mark thresholds like 60%, 70%, 75%, or 80%, and joint winner detection).
    • Academic Broadsheet: Consolidated master grade grid displaying all students in a class or year group, overall averages, attendance metrics (lates/absents), and individual marks for every subject.
    • Instant CSV Export: Download clean, spreadsheet-ready CSV exports for any report view or filter.

🏫 School Administration & Settings ​

  • Settings: Customize preferences, manage profiles, and (for supervisors) enable, disable, and customize global System Status Alerts displayed across the platform.

  • Supervision Manager: Institutional relief coordination and substitute allocation suite for relief coordinators (/supervision-manager). Synchronizes official master timetable slots, logs phone-in and submitted teacher absences, detects vacant periods requiring relief, automatically ranks available non-teaching teachers using an equitable candidate scoring algorithm (balancing today's covers, term load, and timetable availability), and sends institutional co-branded email alerts featuring the school crest with one-tap confirmation deep links.

📱 Mobile Applications & Multi-Tenancy ​

  • Cross-Platform Parity: Progress Edu. runs as a unified Flutter application across web browsers, Android, and iOS devices with complete feature parity and responsive Material 3 layouts.
  • Dynamic School Selection: Single unified mobile binary (org.progressedu.app) supporting all partner schools. First-time mobile users select their school from an integrated registry with live search, and staff or parents can switch institutions seamlessly via Settings.

🚀 Application Updates & Alerts ​

  • In-App Update Alerts: Seamless, background application update detection. When a newer version of the web app is deployed, users receive immediate, responsive visual notifications (a top alert banner on mobile/narrow screens and a navigation rail indicator on desktop) allowing them to reload and run the latest release with one click.
  • System Status Alerts: Global status alert banner manageable by supervisors in Settings to communicate scheduled maintenance, outages, or platform-wide announcements across sign-in screens and home dashboards.
